For her PhD thesis "Neuroinflammation, microglia and the cell biology of Alzheimer's Disease" Alessa performed research in the laboratory of Prof Michael Heneka at the University of Bonn and in the laboratory of Prof Paul Gleeson at the University of Melbourne.
